Ear Aches & Ringing

Ear Aches & Ringing

Ear aches and tinnitus, the persistent ringing, buzzing, sensation in the ears are among the most commonly overlooked symptoms of TMJ disorder.

The reason is anatomical: the temporomandibular joints sit just millimetres from the ear canal, and they share nerve pathways with the structures of the inner and middle ear.

When the jaw is misaligned, overworked, or inflamed, it can create pressure on the surrounding ear structures, irritate shared nerve pathways, and disrupt the muscles that regulate ear pressure.

The result is ear pain, a feeling of blockage or fullness, or persistent ringing often without any ear infection or inner ear disease present.
Ear conditions are often confused with TMJ related disorders.
