Jaw & Facial Pain
Pain in the jaw or face is one of the most common presentations of TMJ disorder, but it is also one of the most frequently overlooked and misdiagnosed. Patients may be told that their pain is dental in origin, sinus-related, or stress-induced often after extensive testing that reveals no clear structural cause.
In reality, jaw and facial pain originating from TMJ dysfunction involves the joints, muscles, and nerves of the jaw system. The pain can be dull and persistent, sharp and episodic, or a constant pressure or aching that worsens with eating, speaking or stress.
