TMJ Disorder

TMJ Disorder

Temporomandibular Joint Disorder (TMJ or TMD) affects the joints, muscles, and ligaments responsible for jaw movement. These joints play a critical role in speaking, chewing, swallowing, and facial expression.
When the jaw joint is strained, misaligned, or overworked, it can result in chronic pain, restricted movement, and widespread discomfort throughout the head, neck, and upper body. TMJ disorder is often progressive and may worsen if left untreated.
TMJ Sleep Center focuses on restoring balance to the jaw system to reduce pain, improve function, and enhance overall quality of life.
Because the temporomandibular joints are involved in thousands of movements each day, even small imbalances can lead to significant strain. Over time, this strain may cause joint inflammation, muscle fatigue, and nerve irritation. TMJ disorder is often progressive, meaning symptoms may intensify if the underlying dysfunction is not addressed appropriately.
