Teeth Grinding & Clenching
Teeth Grinding & Clenching
Teeth grinding (bruxism) and jaw clenching are extremely common and frequently underestimated in their impact. Most grinding occurs during sleep, meaning many people are unaware they do it until a partner notices, or until a dentist observes wear on the tooth surfaces.
The forces generated during grinding can be five to ten times greater than those during normal chewing. Over time, this places enormous strain on the teeth, the jaw joints, and the surrounding muscles leading to tooth wear, cracking, sensitivity, jaw pain, headaches, and disrupted sleep.
