Pediatric Sleep Apnea
Pediatric Sleep Apnea
Pediatric sleep apnea occurs when a child’s breathing is repeatedly disrupted during sleep. Unlike adults — who typically present with fatigue and snoring — children with sleep apnea often show behavioural and developmental signs that are easily mistaken for other conditions.
If your child shows any of the following signs, a sleep-related breathing evaluation is strongly recommended:
• Loud or frequent snoring
• Consistent mouth breathing, day or night
• Bedwetting beyond the expected age
• Difficulty concentrating or sitting still at school
• Hyperactivity or restlessness
• Learning challenges or falling behind peers
• Difficulty waking in the morning despite adequate bedtime hours
