Trigeminal Neuralgia

Trigeminal neuralgia is a condition characterised by sudden, severe, electric shock-like facial pain along the path of the trigeminal nerve, the large nerve responsible for sensation across the face, jaw, teeth, gums, and lips. Episodes can be triggered by everyday activities such as eating, speaking, or light touch, and can be profoundly debilitating.

While trigeminal neuralgia is primarily a neurological condition, mechanical factors from the jaw and surrounding structures can aggravate the trigeminal nerve and contribute to the frequency and intensity of pain episodes.
